Shunga - 春画 by Anonymous Painter. Meiji era (1868 - 1912)





This is according to the tragic seventeenth-century lovers Ohana and Hanshichi, with Hanshichi (半七) inscribing his name on Ohana's left thigh.

Kakejiku(掛け軸) (vertical hanging scroll), ink and colours on silk in silk mounts, depicting dancers at the Obon(お盆) midsummer festival in the precincts of a Shinto shrine, surrounded by giant sugi (cryptomeria) trees and lit by lanterns inscribed Odori (Dance) and Wakanaka (Young Men's Group)
